Most Sporting Kansas City fans know by now that forward Daniel Salloi has been afforded a unique chance to find romance.
On March 12, the 23-year-old Homegrown Player will headline âThe Bachelor Live on Stageâ at Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland, interacting with 10 lucky women all vying for his love. The live event is open to guests of all ages and tickets are selling fast, so get yours while supplies last at ArvestBankTheatre.com.
But whatâs the backstory to this wild development? How did Salloi land an opportunity so enviable to other young men his age?
Salloi shared all the details in a discussion with 610 Sports Radio host Josh Klingler on Tuesday at Sporting KC Media Day inside the Wise Power Shield Club at Childrenâs Mercy Park.
As it turns out, many of Salloiâs teammates nominated him. Then he received an email notifying him that he was one of the Kansas City finalists.
âI thought this was a joke, honestly,â Salloi said. âBut I ended up winning it and now everyone is super excited. Iâm just going with the flow now and I think itâs going to be cool. Itâs going be a good experience and all my teammates will be behind me. Theyâre all coming to the show, so itâs going to be a fun night.â
Salloi also provided some insight on how the live program will unfold. The 10 women in attendance will be put through a variety of challenges and date scenarios, and Salloi will eliminate one contestant each round. Ultimately he will be left with one girl to present his final rose.
âI donât really do dating apps, but sometimes you find girls on Instagram,â Salloi said of his generationâs dating strategies. âNowadays itâs just about sliding into the DMs. But Iâm also not afraid to go up to a girl if I see her in public. You just see more girls on Instagram than you see in public.â

Having defeated Vancouver Whitecaps FC in last weekend's curtain raiser, Salloi and Sporting will now prepare for their highly anticipated Children's Mercy Park home opener on Saturday against the Houston Dynamo. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and tickets remain available at SeatGeek.com as Sporting returns to the Blue Hell for the first time since late September of last year. The first 10,000 fans through the stadium gates on Saturday night will receive a free rally towel courtesy of match sponsor UMB Bank.
