Sporting KC supports Comeback KC virtual mask Instagram campaign

Sporting Kansas City never quits. And neither does the city for which it plays.

No matter the odds, Kansas City always finds a way to unite and overcome.

Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, local leaders have launched Comeback KC, a private/public collaboration dedicated to helping the entire Kansas City region come back stronger than ever. At the forefront, Comeback KC is coordinating with public health departments across the metro to build testing and contact tracing capacity so that Kansas City can safely reopen.

Comeback KC kicked off its virtual mask campaign on Instagram today as a means of promoting wellness and encouraging people to wear masks in public. Comeback KC has created an Instagram effect that will put a virtual mask over any human faces it detects on the screen. To try out the effect on your smartphone, CLICK HERE.

Users can implement this effect to post photos or videos to their Instagram stories, Instagram feed or both. They can also save them and post them on other social media platforms.

Users are encouraged to share photos and videos today and tag @comeback_kc in their Instagram posts.

Sporting Kansas City captain Matt Besler will participate in the Comeback KC initiative in the near term. Additionally, all Sporting players have been vigilant by wearing masks whenever they aren't at home, including when they arrive to Compass Minerals National Performance Center for voluntary individual workouts.
