Sporting KC Show Podcast: Paulo Nagamura on "the game that changed the path of Sporting KC"

Running throughout the season on Sports Radio 810 WHB, the Sporting Kansas City Show is available on several podcast hubs including Spotify and iTunes as well as SportingKC.com/SportingKCShow. With Nate Bukaty, Carter Augustine and Aly Trost hosting the weekly program, Sporting fans have a place to go to catch up on club storylines, guest interviews and more.

A poignant episode of the Sporting Kansas City Show debuted Tuesday night on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty, Carter Augustine and Aly Trost kicked off by sharing their candid and reflective thoughts on the racial injustices persisting in society today, relating them to the world of sports and underscoring the importance of listening, learning and acting to build a better future.

The second segment saw former Sporting Kansas City great and current Sporting KC II head coach Paulo Nagamura join the show. In an insightful interview that spanned multiple topics, Nagamura talked about the challenge of developing a youthful Sporting KC II squad during the suspension of the USL Championship campaign and looked back on the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final, which saw Nagamura and Sporting edge Seattle Sounders FC on penalty kicks. Nagamura said that game “changed the path of Sporting KC” in the years that followed, elevating the club to one of the best in Major League Soccer.

The 2012 U.S. Open Cup Final will re-air Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City with second-screen commentary from Nagamura and legendary goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, both of whom played instrumental roles in the thrilling victory.
