After playing seven of the last nine matches on the road, Sporting Kansas City will begin a three-game homestand Saturday when FC Dallas visits Children's Mercy Park for a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff. Facing a home-heavy stretch of the summer schedule, Sporting will look to cash in against a Dallas side that has actually performed far better away from home during the first half of the 2025 campaign. With Saturday's showdown just around the corner, we take a statistical look at the fixture in our newest edition of By The Numbers presented by Compass Minerals.

Head-to-Head

  • Sporting and Dallas last met on March 29 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Daniel Salloi gave Sporting a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute before Lucho Acosta and Leo Chu scored in the 37th and 39th minutes, respectively, to give Dallas a 2-1 lead it would hold to the final whistle.
  • Sporting has won four straight home meetings against Dallas in all competitions since May 2022, including victories in the 2022 and 2024 U.S. Open Cup tournaments. Sporting had previously gone winless in six home meetings against Dallas from July 2018 to April 2022 (0-4-2 record).
  • The home team in the series has won the last eight meetings across all competitions since May 2022.
  • Dallas owns a narrow edge in the all-time regular season series, posting a 32-29-14 record through 75 meetings. Sporting’s 32 regular season losses against Dallas are their most versus any MLS opponent.
  • Sporting and Dallas met three times last year in all competitions. Sporting won twice in the space of four days at Children’s Mercy Park—prevailing 3-2 in the regular season on July 7 and 2-1 in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals on July 10—before Dallas celebrated Decision Day with 2-1 home victory on Oct. 19.
  • Sporting forward Daniel Salloi has nine goals and two assists in 18 regular season appearances against Dallas. His nine regular season goals versus Dallas are his most against any MLS opponent and the most by any Sporting player in the all-time series.
  • Sporting midfielder Memo Rodriguez scored a late winner in Kansas City’s 3-2 regular season victory over Dallas last July. He has three goals and five total goal contributions (two assists) in 15 regular season appearances against Dallas, both of which are his most against any MLS opponent.
  • Sporting forward Dejan Joveljic has three goals in seven regular season appearances against Dallas, all from 2023-2024 as a member of the LA Galaxy.
  • Sporting forward Mason Toye has two goals in six regular season appearances against Dallas, all from 2019-2020 as a member of Minnesota United FC.
  • Dallas forward Petar Musa scored in all three meetings between the clubs last season, including a pair of second-half equalizers in Kansas City on July 7 (MLS regular season) and July 10 (U.S. Open Cup). Musa has three goal contributions (two goals, one assist) in three regular season appearances against Sporting.
  • Dallas midfielder Sebastian Lletget has seven goal contributions (three goals, four assists) in 15 regular season appearances against Sporting.
  • Dallas winger Leo Chu has six goal contributions (one goal, five assists) in six regular season appearances against Sporting, all as a member of Seattle Sounders FC. Four of Chu’s 14 career MLS assists came in Seattle’s 4-1 road win over Sporting on March 25, 2023.

Sporting Kansas City

  • 2025 MLS record: 4-9-4, 16 points (12th in West | 26 GF, 31 GA)
  • 2025 MLS home record: 2-3-2 (12 GF, 14 GA)
  • Last Five MLS Matches: 1-1-3, 6 points (T-T-T-W-L)
  • Sporting lost 3-1 at LAFC last Sunday to conclude a stretch of seven away matches in nine games dating back to April 19. Sporting went 3-3-3 during that stretch, posting a 2-3-2 record away from home.
  • Sporting’s 3-1 loss to LAFC snapped a four-game MLS unbeaten run, the team’s longest since the first four games of the 2024 regular season. The four-game unbeaten run spanned from May 14-31 and saw Sporting come from behind to secure a result three times.
  • Sporting will play five of its next six matches at home from June 14 to July 19, including a three-game homestand that begins Saturday against FC Dallas.
  • Each of Sporting’s next four matches will come against teams with non-winning records (FC Dallas, Charlotte FC, Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids).
  • Sporting earned a 3-1 comeback win at Houston Dynamo FC on May 31. It was Sporting’s first comeback road win in MLS play since prevailing 2-1 at CF Montreal on July 9, 2022.
  • Sporting has earned four results in its last seven away matches (2-3-2 record) since April 19 after earning just two results in its previous 18 away matches (1-16-1 record) from April 2024 through March 2025.
  • Sporting has scored 20 goals in 11 matches since April 1, tied for the third most in the Western Conference during that time.
  • Sporting has scored multiple goals six times in its last 11 matches after doing so just once in its previous 13 matches across all competitions dating back to 2024.
  • Sporting has trailed by two goals at halftime three times this season. On each occasion, Kansas City has rallied to secure a point. Sporting trailed 2-0 at halftime (and 3-0 in the 46th minute) of a 3-3 home draw against Minnesota United FC on March 15, 2-0 at halftime of a 2-2 road draw at St. Louis City SC on May 14, and 2-0 at halftime of a 3-3 home draw against the New England Revolution on May 24.
  • Sporting has been outscored 25-14 through the 60th minute while outscoring opponents 12-6 after the 60th minute during the 2025 regular season.
  • Sporting has scored 16 of its 26 MLS goals in the second half this season, a clip of 61.5%.
  • Kerry Zavagnin has a 4-4-3 record in 11 matches as Sporting’s interim head coach since the start of April. Kansas City opened the 2025 regular season with five losses and one draw.
  • Forward Dejan Joveljic scored Sporting’s opening goal last Sunday at LAFC for his team-leading 10th goal of the season. His 10 goals are tied for third most in MLS and tied for fourth most by a Kansas City newcomer in club history.
  • Joveljic is the first Sporting player since Johnny Russell in 2018 to score 10 goals in his first MLS season with the club.
  • Joveljic has scored in four straight MLS appearances for the third time in his career, having previously done so in mid-2022 and early 2024. His four-game scoring run is the longest active streak in MLS.
  • Joveljic is one of only four MLS players with 10 goal contributions in each of the last four regular seasons (2022-2025) alongside Cristian Espinoza, Carles Gil and Hany Mukhtar.
  • Joveljic has scored 31 MLS goals (including playoffs) since the start of 2024, tied with Lionel Messi for most in the league during that time.
  • Midfielder Manu Garcia assisted Joveljic’s goal last Sunday and has a team-leading five assists this season. Garcia also leads Sporting with 27 key passes, more than double the amount of any other Kansas City player.
  • Garcia ranks fifth in MLS in fouls suffered (37), fifth in progressive passes (130), sixth in successful passes into the final third (117), eighth in successful passes into the penalty area (36) and 10th in successful through balls (seven).
  • Forward Santiago Munoz opened his MLS scoring account with Sporting’s final goal in a 3-1 road win over Houston Dynamo FC on May 31. It was his first professional goal since scoring for Santos Laguna against Necaxa on Sept. 1, 2024.
  • Forward Daniel Salloi has nine goal contributions (five goals, four assists) this season, second most on the team behind Dejan Joveljic, after totaling just seven goal contributions during the 2024 MLS campaign (two goals, five assists).
  • Salloi ranks second on the team in both goals (five) and assists (four).
  • At 19 years and 250 days (as of Saturday, June 14), midfielder Jacob Bartlett is the second youngest player to start at least 14 MLS matches this season behind only Philadelphia Union defender Frankie Westfield (19 years, 187 days). Bartlett has started in 12 straight matches for Sporting since March 29.
  • Defender Jansen Miller has played the most regular season minutes (1,215) of any 2025 MLS SuperDraft selection this year. He has played every minute in each of Sporting’s last 13 games since March 22.
  • Midfielder Zorhan Bassong has recorded assists in back-to-back MLS matches for the first time in his career. He missed last Sunday’s match at LAFC while on international duty with Canada.
  • Midfielder Erik Thommy has five goal contributions this season, four of which have come as a substitute (two goals and two assists as a sub, one goal as a starter).
  • Goalkeeper John Pulskamp had an MLS career-high eight saves in Sporting’s 3-1 win at Houston on May 31, the most by a Kansas City goalkeeper in a league match since Tim Melia produced eight saves in a 2-0 home win over Minnesota United FC on Aug. 25, 2018.
  • Pulskamp is the only Sporting player to start in all 17 MLS matches and in all 19 matches across all competitions this season.

FC Dallas

  • 2025 MLS record: 4-6-6, 18 points (11th in West | 18 GF, 26 GA)
  • 2025 MLS away record: 3-2-4 (14 GF, 17 GA)
  • Last Five MLS Matches: 0-2-3, 3 points (T-L-L-T-T)
  • Dallas has a 3-2-4 road record this season, the third best in the Western Conference. Dallas is the only Western Conference team with more road wins (three) than home wins (one) this season.
  • Dallas is winless in six straight MLS matches since the start of May, posting a 0-3-3 record and being shut out four times during that stretch.
  • Dallas has failed to score in four of seven home games this season, posting a 1-4-2 record at Toyota Stadium with the lone win coming against Sporting on March 29 by a 2-1 scoreline.
  • Five of Dallas’ seven road results this season have seen the team come from behind to win or draw.
  • Dallas ranks 25th in MLS in passing accuracy (81.1%) and 29th in average possession (44.5%).
  • Dallas ranks 28th in MLS in shots per game (10.3) and 29th in shots on target per game (3.5).
  • Dallas has conceded just one goal from set pieces this season, the fewest in MLS.
  • Dallas has scored one goal in the first 30 minutes of matches this season, the fewest in MLS. Dallas has been outscored 10-1 in the first 30 minutes of matches while outscoring opponents 17-16 after the 30th minute this season.
  • Each of Dallas’ four league wins this season have come by a single goal.
  • Dallas ranks fourth in MLS in away goals (14) but last in MLS in home goals (four).
  • Dallas is 2-1-0 when scoring the first goal and 2-5-4 when allowing the first goal this season.
  • Dallas is 2-0-0 when leading at halftime and 2-2-3 when trailing at halftime this season.
  • Forward Petar Musa is tied for the team lead with four MLS goals and has a team-best seven MLS goal contributions (including three assists) this season. Musa had a strong debut campaign in MLS last year, bagging a team-best 16 goals during the 2024 regular season.
  • Forward Anderson Julio is tied for the team lead with four MLS goals this season, including three in his last seven appearances since April 27.
  • Midfielder Lucho Acosta leads Dallas with 28 key passes, 17 more than any other player on the team, but he has yet to record an assist this season. He has three MLS goals and a team-best five goals across all competitions this season.
  • Acosta, who was named the 2023 MLS MVP as a member of FC Cincinnati, has recorded double-digit goals and assists in each of the previous three regular seasons from 2022-2024. His 93 goal regular season goal contributions from 2022-2024 (41 goals, 52 assists) were the most in MLS during that time.
  • Defender Sebastian Ibeagha is the only Dallas player to appear in each of the team’s 16 regular season matches this season. He is tied for the team lead with 15 starts alongside defender Osaze Urhoghide and midfielder Ramiro.

Milestones and Miscellany

  • Forward Daniel Salloi has become the third player in club history to eclipse 50 goals and 40 assists in the regular season alongside Preki (71 goals, 98 assists) and Johnny Russell (60 goals, 40 assists).
  • Goalkeeper John Pulskamp ranks seventh in club history in both shutouts (nine) and wins (13) in the regular season. His next shutout will tie Mike Ammann for sixth most in club history.
