Sporting Kansas City Manager & Sporting Director Peter Vermes joined The Drive with Carrington Harrison on 610 Sports Radio on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the U.S. Men’s National Team’s massive victory over Iran that saw the team advance to the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup.

The USMNT – knowing only a win would do – held on to a 1-0 victory over Iran thanks to a first-half goal from Christian Pulisic. The team weathered a late Iranian storm to post their second shutout in three matches during the 2022 World Cup and advance to face the Netherlands in the Round of 16 on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT.

Vermes earned 66 caps for the USMNT from 1988 to 1997 and represented the Stars & Stripes during the 1990 World Cup in Italy – starting all three games as the U.S. returned to the World Cup for the first time in 40 years.
