Sporting Kansas City defender Nico Hasler has joined the Liechtenstein Men’s National Team for its final two matches in Group J of UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying during the November FIFA window.

Liechtenstein will visit Finland at 11 a.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 15, at Telia 5G Arena in Helsinki before hosting Bosnia and Herzegovina at 1:45 p.m. CT on Monday, Nov. 18, at Rheinpark Stadion in Vaduz. Both games will stream live on ESPN3 and the ESPN App.

  • Monday, Nov. 18: vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (1:45 p.m. CT, ESPN3, ESPN App)

Hasler and Liechtenstein are already eliminated from UEFA Euro 2020 qualification as the last-place team in Group J, but head coach Helgi Kolvidsson’s side has earned results in two of its last three matches. Hasler notched the game-tying assist in a spirited 1-1 stalemate at Greece on Sept. 8 and went the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 home draw versus Armenia on Oct. 12.

Usually deployed as an attacking midfielder for his national team, Hasler has started all eight Euro qualifiers for Liechtenstein this year. As one of the country’s most decorated players this decade, Hasler has scored three goals in 65 career caps and was named Liechtensteiner Footballer of the Year in 2015, 2017 and 2018. He has been an integral member of Liechtenstein’s national team since debuting for the senior side in 2010.

Hasler joined Sporting in April and started seven of nine MLS appearances under manager Peter Vermes. He previously helped Toronto FC to an unprecedented treble of trophies in 2017, including the MLS Cup, before linking up with the Chicago Fire midway through the 2018 campaign.
