Sporting Kansas City will host the Philadelphia Union at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Sporting Park as The Victory Project celebrates the club's annual Kick Childhood Cancer theme night in conjunction with National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Tickets are available via SeatGeek, including a Nurses Night ticket pack featuring a custom SKC bento box, and match title night partner Compass Minerals will give away custom teddy bears to children on the Sporting Plaza while supplies last prior to kickoff. Sporting Style retail stores will also feature a new Charlie Hustle Kick Childhood Cancer Night tee in youth and adult sizes.
Victory Project Honorees have been recognized at Sporting Park since the tradition first began in 2013 and this Saturday the club will welcome past honorees back to the stadium for a pregame tailgate and special gameday experiences including a Victory Walk at field level during halftime.
Sporting Kansas City is coming off an emphatic 3-1 victory over LAFC last Saturday highlighted by a sensational strike from Designated Player Andre Luiz - scoring his first MLS goal in his first start at Sporting Park since arriving in a club-record transfer -- to go along with goals from Taylor Calheira and Jacob Bartlett. Stefan Cleveland contributed seven saves - the most of any MLS goalkeeper on Matchday 26 -- and centerback Wyatt Meyer recorded seven clearances, the most by an SKC player in a game this year.
Sporting will now look to win back-to-back home games for the first time since the 2024 season, which was also the last time Sporting Kansas City and the Philadelphia Union met as the sides played to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Park. The all-time series is deadlocked at 7-7-8 in 22 match-ups across all competitions, including the memorable 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final in which Sporting prevailed on penalties.
Philadelphia return to Kansas City amidst one of the greatest mid-season turnarounds in Major League Soccer history. After winning the Supporters' Shield in 2025, the Union started 2026 with one win in their first 15 games (1-10-4) and parted ways with head coach Bradley Carnell during the World Cup break.
Since, the Union are unbeaten in 10 games (8-0-2) under interim head coach Ryan Richter thanks in large part to a backline bolstered by the returns of Designated Player Kai Wagner (transfer in July) at left back and 18-year-old Neil Pierre (end of loan in June) at centerback. Philadelphia now arrives in Kansas City with the longest active shutout streak (286 minutes) in MLS on the heels of three straight clean sheets.
Offensively, the Union lead MLS in shots this season (417) and have scored the most goals in MLS since the World Cup break (28) -- including 5-0 victories in each of their past two outings -- during a 10-game run that has featured a teenager providing a goal contribution in every match, the longest such streak in MLS history.
Sixteen-year-old Cavan Sullivan has enjoyed a breakout season with six goals and 11 assists, including goal contributions in seven straight games - the longest active streak in MLS and the longest streak by a teenager in MLS history. Sullivan, who will join Manchester City when he turns 18, was called up to the U.S. Men's National Team this week for the first time along with fellow Philadelphia Union homegrown players Frankie Westfield and Neil Pierre.
