Sporting Kansas City returns to the road this weekend as the team travels to Texas to take on FC Dallas at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at the new-look Toyota Stadium.
The venue, which first opened in 2005, is in the midst of a more than $200 million renovation scheduled for completion in 2028. FC Dallas last played on their home field on May 13, followed by 11 road matches -- as well as a home Leagues Cup game at the new Texas Health Mansfield Stadium -- from May 16-Aug. 30, culminating with a dramatic 3-3 draw in St. Louis last week courtesy of a 97th-minute equalizer.
The hosts compiled an impressive 6-3-3 record across all competitions during the stretch and sre currently tied for fourth place in the Western Conference despite playing the fewest home games of any team in MLS.
FC Dallas is led by head coach Eric Quill, who made 57 appearances for the Kansas City Wizards from 2002-2003. The Missouri City, Texas native managers a roster that is headlined by MLS All-Star Petar Musa. The 28-year-old Designated Player, who played for Croatia at the World Cup this summer, ranks second in MLS with 16 goals this season to go along with three assists.
Musa is one of three FC Dallas players with double-digit goal contributions this season along with 24-year-old forward Logan Farrington (seven goals, four assists) and 25-year-old playmaker Joaquin Valiente (one goal, nine assists). In addition, FC Dallas acquired Nigerian winger Daniel Job as a U22 Initiative Player this week prior to the close of Major League Soccer's secondary transfer window.
No club in MLS spent more during the transfer window than Sporting Kansas City -- according to Transfermarkt -- as SKC signed seven players, the most ever for the club during a summer window, and spent the most money in club history during a single transfer window.
