The annual Sporting KC Media Game took place at Children’s Mercy Park on Sunday night at halftime of the club’s 1-0 victory over the LA Galaxy.

Team Sporting produced a dominant showing on the night, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Team Wizards in the 10-minute contest.

Team Sporting jumped into an early lead when longtime KMBC photojournalist Robin Davis converted from close range after a scramble in the penalty area.

Despite Team Wizards responding well to falling behind but failing to threaten KSHB 41’s Matt Foster in the Team Sporting goal, SKC hit on the counter and Cody Bradley from the KC Soccer Journal fired home in front of the South Stand to double the lead midway through the match.

With the Kansas City Star’s Daniel Sperry and KC Soccer Journal’s Robert Rusert doing their best to drag the Wizards back into the game in front of the Cauldron, it was Carlos Chicas from Nuestra Vision Arkansas who would have the final say as he beat FOX4’s Marcus Officer in the Wizards goal with the final kick of the game to make it 3-0.

Having scored the opening goal and eventual game-winner, KMBC’s Davis was named the 2025 Sporting KC Media Game Most Valuable Player.
