As Sporting Kansas City celebrates its 25th season as a founding member of Major League Soccer, the club is delighted to launch a comprehensive concession stand refresh at Children’s Mercy Park, begin multifaceted partnerships with heralded local establishments and deliver numerous matchday enhancements inside the stadium.

At the forefront, Sporting has enriched its food and beverage offerings by welcoming a variety of Kansas City-based fan favorites to Children’s Mercy Park and introducing five additional concession concepts throughout the stadium concourse ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated home opener against the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m. CT.

  • BRGR (Section 129): Locally renowned BRGR will serve up its signature burgers, traditional fries and tots, a premium chicken sandwich and the popular Beyond Burger, the first plant-based protein in the stadium.
  • Taco Republic (South Stand Concourse): Famous for its “street-style” tacos, Taco Republic will operate out of its food truck and serve a plethora of popular items including tacos, chips, salsa, guacamole and margaritas.
  • American Royal Barbecue (Section 127): A Kansas City tradition with decades of celebrated history, the American Royal will serve classic KC barbecue fan-favorites such as pulled pork, brisket and burnt end sandwiches plus new creations like the burnt end nachos with molasses baked beans, cheese and onion strings.
  • Port Fonda: Nationally acclaimed for its authentic Mexican cuisine, Port Fonda will be prominently placed inside the newly renovated Wise Power Shield Club with a rotating menu that will include Port Fonda favorites like the chimichanga of the match, esquite asado and the Roselle Margarita.
  • Parisi Coffee: A Kansas City-based artisan coffee roaster, Parisi will serve fans from its portable kiosk on the stadium concourse and in premium spaces throughout the venue. A primary component of the partnership will see Sporting and Parisi launch a unique line of coffee blends and unveil a special-edition shandy—a refreshing blend of coffee, lemonade and vanilla.
  • J. Rieger & Co.: The revered local distillery will serve its signature products during matches at Children’s Mercy Park and at private events in the suite levels and Wise Power Shield Club. Sporting and J. Rieger & Co. have also unveiled a special collectible bottle of Rieger’s Kansas City Whiskey, exclusively available in Kansas City as of Feb. 20. The limited-edition label of Rieger’s Sporting Kansas City Whiskey celebrates their new partnership and “love of the city.”

The five other concession stand concepts are located throughout the stadium concourse, featuring unique themes, bold flavors and distinct signage,

  • Brat & Brau (Section 101) – giant brats, giant pretzels, brat-chos and more
  • Kickin’ Chicken (Section 114) – fried chicken sandwiches, popcorn chicken, curly fries and more
  • World’s Kitchen (Section 117) – chicken and falafel curry bowls, wraps and more
  • The Market (Section 119) – grab-and-go marketplace with subs, sandwiches, wraps, salads, protein bento boxes, cookies and more
  • El Capitan presented by Corona (Section 122) – Nachos, tacos, empanadas, margaritas, Corona beer and more

Furthermore, Saturday’s home opener will introduce supporters to the Sporting Value Menu, available in the Budweiser Brew House and all concession stands but The Market, consisting of $5 hot dogs, nachos and pretzels and $4 popcorn at every match. In addition, the newly remodeled Domino’s location in section 134 will serve its popular pizza to fans in the stadium bowl while expanding its offerings to the Budweiser Brew House. Domino’s will also feature in Coca-Cola Family 4-Packs that bundle a match ticket, Domino’s pizza and a Coca-Cola product.

Sporting’s post-match victory celebrations will feature the return of the confetti cannon and beer specials in the Budweiser Brew House, while the reconfigured East Stand beer garden—located on the concourse upstairs from the updated Hollywood Casino East Gate—will be accessible to all fans at every home match. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a digital auction benefiting The Victory Project, the philanthropic arm of Sporting that unites players, staff and supporters in the fight against childhood cancer. To participate at each home game, fans can text “SKCMatchdayAuction” to 243725.

Sporting Kansas City supporters will further benefit from a variety of technology upgrades at Children’s Mercy Park, including faster WiFi, a new Sporting KC mobile app and efficient ticket scanning to speed up gate entry times. Elsewhere, the installation of new mother’s and sensory rooms on the east side of the stadium will give families quiet, accommodating places to bring children on every matchday.

The busy offseason has also seen Sporting partner with Wise Power, a renewable energy provider founded in Kansas City, that includes naming rights to the Wise Power Shield Club on the west side of Children's Mercy Park. The Wise Power Shield Club is one of multiple stadium spaces to feature newly modernized décor or renovations, alongside the updated Budweiser Brew House, the UMB Field Club—which will offer a new grab-and-go food station—and both main SportingStyle locations (Sections 114 & 130) where fans can shop Sporting’s 2020 kit collection.

Design enhancements in the Wise Power Shield Club, the UMB Field Club and Suite 402 have stemmed from partnerships with Facility Systems, Inc. and John A. Marshall Co., a pair of locally based interior designers.

On the match broadcast side, SAP audio will be available for Sporting’s regionally televised MLS home games on FOX Sports Kansas City and FOX Sports Midwest. For all away matches throughout the year, Sporting watch parties will be held at the 15 venues within the vastly expanded Sporting Pub Network.

Tickets for Sporting Kansas City’s first 10 MLS home matches at Children’s Mercy Park—beginning with Saturday’s home opener against Houston and continuing through a summertime matchup versus the Portland Timbers on June 28—can be purchased at SportingKC.com/tickets.

The best way to guarantee tickets for all 2020 home matches is to join the Sporting Kansas City family and become a Season Ticket Member. Several multi-game ticket packages are also on sale, including half-season ticket packages and the limited-time Home Opener Pack that bundles the game on Saturday with two flex matches.
