Fast Facts: Sporting KC 1-3 FC Dallas - March 14, 2015

  • Sporting KC dropped their first match of the 2015 season on Saturday. The 3-1 loss was the second win for Dallas in as many matches to start the season. 
  • Blas Perez opened the scoring for the home side in the 17th minute. Perez also scored the game-winner in FC Dallas' season opener against the San Jose Earthquakes.
  • Blas Perez scored his second goal of the night in the 52nd minute. Perez was the leading scorer for FC Dallas in each of the last three seasons.
  • Fabian Castillo added a third goal for FC Dallas in the 73rd minute.
  • Roger Espinoza scored Sporting KC's lone goal on Saturday in the 44th minute. 
  • The goal was Espinoza's first since 2011, when he scored in a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on August 3.
  • The goal was Espinoza's third of his MLS career during the regular season.
  • Benny Feilhaber earned the assist, his 21st during the MLS regular season and 12th in a Sporting KC uniform. Feilhaber and FC Dallas midfielder Michel are the only two MLS players with multiple assists in 2015.

  • Homegrown defender Kevin Ellis started in place of the suspended Matt Besler. 
  • Besler missed Saturday's match after receiving two yellow cards in Sporting KC's match against the New York Red Bulls last weekend.
  • Saturday marked the first time Kevin Ellis and Ike Opara have partnered in central defense for Sporting Kansas City.
  • Ellis recorded the most interceptions of any player in Saturday's match with nine. Ellis and FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges made the most clearances of all field players with eight.
  • Roger Espinoza won 12 duels, most among all players in Saturday's match.
  • Canadian international Marcel de Jong made his Sporting KC and MLS debut with a start at left back.
  • Graham Zusi made his 150th MLS regular season appearance for Sporting KC, passing Mo Johnston and Michael Harrington for ninth all-time in team history.
  • The match was Sporting KC's first against an intra-conference foe since re-joining the Western Conference. Sporting KC was 5-2-2 against the West last year.

  • With the FC Dallas victory on Saturday, the home team in the FC Dallas versus Sporting KC series has just two wins in the last seven meetings dating back to 2010 (2-3-2). 
  • The loss was Sporting KC's first loss at Toyota Stadium since 2011. The previous two trips to Dallas ended in a 4-1 Sporting KC win in 2011 and a 2-2 draw in 2013.
  • Over 800 Sporting KC fans travelled to Frisco, Texas for Saturday's match.
