The Rangers head into the midweek matchup with a 6-7-3 (21 pts.) record and a three-game unbeaten streak, having gone 2-0-1 since their last game against OKC Energy FC on June 18 ā a 3-1 home defeat. In Saturdayās game with Arizona, the Rangers fell behind in the 27th minute to Long Tanās penalty kick before responding with a penalty of their own three minutes later ā converted by Kris Tyrpak. Midway through the second half, a pair of red cards were shown to Arizonaās Matheus Silva and SPRās Ayrton following a team-wide confrontation between the two sides as the game finished in a draw.

On Saturday, the Energy played to a goalless draw with San Antonio FC at Toyota Field, where club captain and Kansas City native Michael Thomas was sent off ā meaning he will be suspended for Tuesdayās game ā for an altercation with San Antonio goalkeeper Josh Ford ā who was also ejected.
The Rangers have gone 0-2-0 against OKC Energy FC, falling 1-0 in the first-ever meeting between the sides on April 23 before suffering a 3-1 defeat on June 18.
