Sporting Kansas City announced Thursday that Assistant Technical Director Mike Jacobs has accepted a new post as the Technical Director and Vice President of Soccer Operations at Nashville SC, a professional club that will debut in the United Soccer League in 2018.
“This is a great career opportunity for Mike, who will play a major role for an ambitious soccer organization in Nashville,” Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said. “The new position will also bring Mike closer to his family, and we fully support his decision. We are extremely thankful for his hard work and commitment over the last two years and wish him nothing but the best going forward.”
Jacobs arrived in Kansas City in 2015 and has served as the club’s Assistant Technical Director for the last three seasons. During his tenure he aided in the oversight of the senior team, facilitated the development of the Sporting KC Academy and Swope Park Rangers, and assisted in the scouting and recruitment of players outside the club.
