Sporting KC Show Podcast: Director of Community Programs Ashley Green talks #KickChildhoodCancer

The Sporting KC Show Podcast, dropping throughout the season on Sports Radio 810 WHB, is now available on Spotify and iTunes. With Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Carter Augustine hosting the weekly program, Sporting fans have a place to go to catch up on club storylines, player achievements, guest interviews and more.

A new episode of The Sporting KC Show Podcast debuted Tuesday night at hosts Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Carter Augustine caught up with Ashley Green, Sporting’s Director of Community Programs.

With September comes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and that means tons of activity for Green and the Community Relations team. As Major League Soccer clubs take a unified stance to #KickChildhoodCancer, Green spearheads Sporting's philanthropic efforts at the local level by showcasing The Victory Project, a foundation established in 2013 that unites club players, staff and fans to help children with cancer and their families.

During the month of September alone, Sporting has numerous initiatives on tap that serve to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer treatment: The Sporting Invitational, The Victory Project Soccer Clinic and Friday's Day of Giving at Scooter's Coffee will give all proceeds to The Victory Project, and that's not to mention the #KickChildhoodCancer initiatives at Sporting home matches this Saturday and next Sunday, Sept. 29. This weekend also marks the start of The Victory Project's online auction, which will launch in conjunction with the FOX Sports Kansas City Plus match broadcast as Sporting hosts the Colorado Rapids.

The Victory Project will also grant two Sporting Wishes this month to children with secondary cancer diagnoses. Fourteen-year-old Emily will travel to Disneyland in California with her family, while 10-year-old Jenna will venture with her family to Disneyworld in Florida.
