Scouting Report: Sporting KC vs Vancouver Whitecaps

Scouting Report: Sporting KC vs Vancouver Whitecaps -

It's a quick turnaround for Sporting Kansas City as they host Western Conference side Vancouver on Wednesday night at Sporting Park. Both teams are coming off victories this past weekend and currently batting for playoff positioning in the standings. Wednesday's match is the lone meeting between the two sides in the 2013 regular season.

Team News

Vancouver will be a bit short-handed due to some key players joining their National Teams for the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup. Russell Teibert, who leads the team with six assists, is with the Canadian National Team and Carlyle Mitchell is with the Trinidad and Tobago National Team. Jay DeMerit and Omar Solgado are out while Erik Hurtado and Andy O'Brien are listed as questionable. There is expected to be several changes to the starting lineup due to the back-to-back road matches and the upcoming rivalry match against Seattle on the weekend.

Recent Form/Results

The Whitecaps have been in great form lately with wins over D.C. United, Chivas USA, and the New England Revolution. The team has been led by strong performances from Kenny Miller and Camilo, who have combined for more than half of Vancouver's goals. Coming off the victory at D.C. on Saturday, the team will likely continue a more defensive approach on at Sporting Park and be content with a draw.
